Say "PEAS"

Chris's parents came to visit Will this weekend (and us too, but you know how that goes!). We had a great time and Will put on a good show. Here Will and Chris's dad conduct oral surgery on Mr. Potato Head.

Chris worked with volunteers on Saturday morning on Riversweep--an effort to clean up the Cuyahoga river. Checkout the pictures of all of the abandoned tires they found. Amazing. I'd say this is reason enough for the City of Cleveland to offer residential bulk garbage pickup days, but I digress.

Today Wills and I took a walk in the rain when I got home from work. It is so cool to follow an 18month old, without giving direction or pulling on hand. He walks in a determined fashion in one direction, then, suddenly turns around and walks the other way as if it was his plan all along. We stop and talk to the birds fighting over worms. Every airplane passing overhead gets inspected (FedEx has a particularly loud fleet), every puddled jumped in, every piece of litter pointed at, every stranger spoken to. My favorite is when he stops to sit on someones porch steps for a rest. Nature is exhausting. He had things to say today too. New words flowed during dinner....Please, Cheese, Apple, Watermelon (seriously). Out of control this kid.

Water From a Bucket Tastes Just as Fine

Hello! Where has the time gone?? Will has grown so much and I wanted to share some new tricks.
My niece and nephew celebrated their first communion last weekend and it was a beautiful celebration. All of the kids played so well together, and Will even let us give him a ponytail. I'm sure he'll hate me later. Also, this picture of Will with my dad really captures everything I love about both my dad and my son.

On Monday I played hooky and took Will to the zoo. What fun! It was the first time he really "connected" with the animals and it was great too see. The monkeys were the clear favorite. And thankfully no animal seemed to mind that Will referred to them all, big and small, as "doggy". Later in the evening, Norma and Joe invited us to an impromptu Cinco de Mayo party. It was great fun!

Today Will sported some new shades while playing in the yard. He discovered that he could pour water from the water bottle into a bucket and then drink from the bucket. Ingenious! I've already filled out some parts of his Ivy League applications...
