Stanley the Top Dog has been so wonderful with Will, but he's still having a little trouble sharing "the lap". Check it out.

He's Balding

Well, as in the unfortunate fate of all men, Will is slowly losing his beautiful hair. It's subtle, but since I have all day to stare at him recently, I know it's happening.
The past two weeks have been frigid in Detroit, so we have had some serious pajama bonding time. Enough of my babble, here are some new pics! These were all taken this week.

Santa visited Chris's office and so Will got a turn on his lap--too bad you can only see his hat! Will also discovered toys this week, which makes our jobs a little easier.

Giving Thanks
We have been caught up in a whirlwind of fun and family since we were able to return back to Michigan on Nov. 17th. Katie and Rich came for a visit to meet their new grandson, and gave us a much needed night on the town. We (actually Will) had many visitors while they were in town, and it was nice to see all of our friends again.

Over Thanksgiving, more relatives came to visit. My sister, Mollie, and her family came for Turkey day, as did cousins from Chicago, New Hampshire, California and Texas. What fun! Will made it to his first Thanksgiving Day parade and went ice skating in the City with his cousins (they didn't have skates his size, but he watched from the sidelines).

Happy Thanksgiving!

Our Babe is Born!

Hello all! We are excited to announce that our son, William Grennan, was born on November 5, 2006 at 10:44am. He weighed in at a whopping 7lbs, 10oz and is growing like a weed.
It has been an amazing 10 days since we arrived in Texas. We were greeted with open arms by William's birthmother, Jessica, and her family. We chatted and relaxed over dinner at her parents home--what a beautiful thing! Jessica was originally scheduled to be induced on Friday morning, but the hospital got behind and ultimately she wasn't admitted until Saturday morning. After a long labor and visits from the entire family, Jessica gave birth on Sunday morning to a baby boy with a good set of lungs. We stood outside the door and heard his first cry...amazing.
The days to follow in the hospital with Jessica and William were wonderfully emotional. The hospital was so gracious and gave us a room so we could stay close to Will. We shared time (and pizza) with Jessica as we cared for him and settled quickly into parenthood. After emotional goodbyes, we left the hospital with William on Wednesday morning.
At 8am on Friday morning, we went before the judge in the Tarrant County Courthouse in Ft. Worth, Texas and swore to love William forever as his "forever parents". It's official! The also reiterated that we couldn't return him....as if!

Now we are just waiting for the Texas and Michigan state governments to clear us to cross state borders with this baby. Chris will be returning home to Michigan tomorrow, and my mom and I will go and stay with our friends in Austin until Friday. Keep your fingers crossed that we get our clearances by then! I will keep you posted.
This has been a most miraculous event, and I wish I was a more talented writer so I could properly express the graciousness and courage of Jessica and her family. They have given us the precious gift of family.

7 More Weeks

Welcome to our adoption blog! We are counting down the weeks to the main event, and hope to use this site to keep everyone up to the minute with pics and events.
At this point we wait. Jessica's due date is November 7th and we will wait to make travel plans to Texas until we get a little closer. We're going to try our best to get the timing right to be there for the birth, so wish us luck.
We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and hope to see you soon.
Yours,
Ann & Chris
